Frequently Asked Questions......

How Long are
the sessions?

Sessions are 45 minutes long, however alternative session lengths can be arranged.
Will there be
homework?

It has been found that progress is optimised when therapy activities  are continued in home and at school.
After each session I will provide you with tasks to practise throughout the week.
What happens in sessions?

Sessions are individually tailored to your child's speech and language targets. Activities include play and paper based activities......and most importantly are made FUN for your child!
How can I pay for the sessions?

Sessions are invoiced every month. They can be payed online or with cash.
How many sessions will my child need?

The amount of input required varies from child to child and is dependent on their need. However, I recommend a minimum of a term of sessions to allow time for progression.

Are any other professionals involved?

It may be that your child would benefit from the support of other professionals (e.g. Audiology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or Educational  Psychology) If so, I will be able to  provide advice on how your child can best access these services.
What will happen in the assessment?

The assessment will include a brief case history discussion with you and then, depending on your child's age, formal standardised speech and language tests or informal play based assessment.
Do I attend the assessment/sessions?

It is recommended that parents/carers sit in on therapy sessions as this will help with carry over at home. Other staff would also be more than  welcome to observe the sessions, or meet with me seperateley (e.g. LSAs, class teachers etc).
